Aloe Vera: A Natural Way of Healing Wounds

When I was younger, we have Aloe Vera lined up on our garden. I know that my Dad uses it to increase the growth of his hair, because he's starting to bald. Other than that, I never gave it much importance.

As I was researching on the net, I bumped on a website discussing the health benefits of Aloe Vera. I was surprised to know that this particular herb has a lot of health benefits.

What struck me most was to know that Aloe Vera can treat wounds, cuts and burns without leaving a scar. I should have known this when I was younger so I should have spared myself from scars. The gel found in the innermost part of the leaf is effective in healing wounds and bruise when applied directly to the affected area.

I also didn't know that Aloe Vera is safe to consume. I always thought it's toxic and can only be used externally. Aloe Vera enhances the quality of blood therefore it also reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. It prevents the clumping of blood which causes stroke. You can mix it on your favorite drink or shake, or consume the gel fresh from the leaf.

Aloe Vera still has a lot of health benefits but these are the ones that caught my attention since I can relate to them.

My Mom is suffering from high blood and she's also complaining of arthritis and sore gums. I will definitely plant Aloe Vera on our front yard and test if it's really effective.

This herb is easy to propagate. When I was younger, I remember my Dad sticking a bunch of Aloe Vera leaves in our garden and in a few weeks, it's alive with minimum supervision. In a few months, we have dozens of Aloe Vera in our garden.

This is an herb that you should not ignore. Aloe Vera is safe, natural and easy to propagate with many health benefits that you can take advantage of.

Funny Epic Fails of Auto-Correct

I was reading an article at Yahoo News about the most hilarious auto-correct fails and I can't stop to laugh.

I can't imagine the embarrassment of the people involved in the conversation. So much for being a smart phone, auto-correct may not be that smart anyway.

I'm sure you can't stop your laugh either when you read the epic fails of auto-correct.

Read about the funny epic fails of auto-correct at http://ph.omg.yahoo.com/photos/25-most-hilarious-auto-correct-fails-part-i- slideshow/autocorrect-fails-photo-1334807269.html.

Tawas: Get Rid Of Body Odor While Lightening Your Skin

Tawas (Potassium alum) is used for centuries in Asia, particularly the Philippines to whiten skin and eliminate body odor.

Tawas is a natural white crystalline mineral salt of potassium or double sulfate of potassium. Tawas is antimicrobial so it prevents the growth of bacteria that causes body odor. It is natural, therefore it is safe.

Unlike Deodorants, it does not inhibit sweating, instead, it stops the bacteria from growing which results to the elimination of body odor.

Tawas should not be used on cuts and burns as it will cause a stinging sensation and irritation.

When combined with honey and lemon, tawas is an effective skin whitener. I personally use tawas as a body scrub. I use the powderized form.

I started using tawas since high school. It was introduced to me and my siblings by my Mom. This was to prevent us from having body odor and to lighten our skin color as well.

At first, I thought, it wasn;t really working. But then I realized that it did make a big difference. I stopped using tawas when I got pregnant. It just slipped out of my mind.

Recently, I looked at some of my old pictures and saw the big difference. I was really dark when I was younger and during my college days, I got fairer skin. Since I stopped using tawas, my skin got a little darker and I noticed some dark spots.

I am using tawas again, and so are my children and I see considerable results. My eldest daughter often complains that her armpit smells when she perspire. I'm having second thoughts with deodorants since she's still too young. She's only 10 years old. And so, I decided to let her use the ever reliable tawas.

In just one day of use, my daughter told me that her pits no longer smell and she is very happy about it. She's just too excited t grow. And she's starting to notice a lot of changes on her body.

I have been using powdered tawas as a body scrub for a week now and I see my skin getting lighter. It feels good to the skin too. Old skin is removed and new, glowing skin is starting to show.

Tawas is very affordable and it works. It has been tried and tested over the centuries. It is hypoallergenic and does not need any special gadgets and concoctions to work.

Steam Bath: A Natural Way of Treating Cellulite

Cellulite does not choose anyone. It affects men, women, fat or thin. So many people are affected with cellulite that a lot of miracle treatments are sprawling in the market. But none of these miracle products have been scientifically proven to be true.

Steam bath is a natural way of battling cellulite. Not only that, it also makes the skin glow and hydrates the skin as well.

Steam bath is considered to be superior than body wraps in treating cellulite. Steam bath rises the body temperature faster than a body wrap. It takes an hour to achieve an increase in body temperature using body wraps while steam bath only takes 10 minutes.

I read an article about the Vietnamese natural way of treating cellulite. According to the article, during a steam bath session, you can pick the area of your body with cellulite and knead it.

Cellulite appears when the excess water in the body is not excreted by the body through sweat. Sweat passes through the skin. Overtime, the water retained in the skin will harden and form into cellulite. The heat caused by steam bath breaks down cellulite and is flushed away when you perspire.

Using commercial treatments for cellulite may not be enough. Steam bath will not only help treat your cellulite but it will also make your skin healthier and eliminate toxins in your body.

Cellulite: Truth About This Condition

I was writing an article about cellulite and I thought it would be better if I share it here on my blog.

Cellulite is the appearance of dimpled, lumpy skin usually on the thighs, butt and stomach. It affects more girls than boys.
According to studies, girls are more prone to cellulite because of the difference in collagen structure. The collagen in men has a tighter structure than women. In men, the collagen looks like a cross-linked fence while for women, it appears like a picket fence. The structure of  collagen in men is better in holding fats than in women.
Cellulite affects both fat and slim people. Although obesity aggravates the appearance of cellulite.

Cellulite is caused  by fatty tissues formed in honeycombs pushing against the connective tissue underneath your skin. This condition does not pose any medical risks but it is cosmetically disturbing.

Various products have been advertised to effectively reduce and eliminate cellulite but none of these products are scientifically proven to be effective.

Cellulite is associated to lifestyle and diet. In developing countries, women are less affected by cellulite. Especially those who live in the provinces. When you check their breakfast, they eat calorie-filled foods but they are able to use all the calories they consumed. Why? Because they are moving. They go to the farm and plant their seeds. They get water from a well miles away from home and they do household chores all the time.

On the other hand, in industrialized countries, women eats calorie-filled foods but they are not able to burn them. Why? Because they hurry to go to work and sit on their office for the longest time.

It only means that cellulite can be reduced by exercise and well balanced diet. Move around, try not to be lazy. If you can walk going to work, do so. Healthy living does not only make your cellulite away, it makes you healthier as a person.

So, before you decide to use those cellulite treatments, change your lifestyle first. Live a healthy life and eat healthy.

North Korea Rocket Launch Was A Failure: It Is A Sign

Before the failed rocket launch, North Korea scheduled their rocket launch on April 12, 2012. But due to not so good weather condition, they postponed it for the day later. And so they launched their rocket and only a minute in the air, it shattered  into pieces and never made it to its destination.

For me, I think this is a sign from above that they should stop what they are doing. Instead of creating rockets and nuclear weapons, why not spend the money on their people?

I am not judging anyone and this is just my opinion. Just a few days ago, we Filipinos are very worried because of the possibility of some debris falling in the Philippine territory.

I heard news saying the North Korea rocket does not contain any radioactive materials. Yes, but the problem is, they are not certain how big the debris will be.

I also heard on the news that the Philippines is lucky the rocket failed after only a minute in the atmosphere. If it stayed in the atmosphere for at least 2 minutes or more, the damage to the Philippines could be unimaginable.

As a person, I believe that in whatever you do, you should always protect the safety of all life forms, especially human beings. North Korea was stern in saying that their rocket is only for the purpose of satellite to monitor their mountains and what not. Even so, they should still take into account the damage that it may cause to other people, not only for their citizens.

Still, I am very thankful that the rocket launch is over and it did not do any harm to anyone.

I am praying that the news about North Korea planning to do nuclear testing is not true.

God bless us all and may He bless us with clear mind and proper wisdom.

Dr. Seuss, The Lorax, A Movie Review

I just watched this movie with my kids entitled, Dr. Seuss, The Lorax.

At first I thought it was just a movie created for kids, therefore I will not enjoy it. But I was proven wrong.

Yes, this film was created for kids... and adults alike. Although it was an animated cartoon, it was funny actually with a great moral lesson.

See, as we grow older, we forget to be wiser. We think that we know what is best. We are so consumed to be successful and we quantify our success with how much money we have.

We forget that there are other more important things in life than money. And because we are too hooked in getting more and more money, we justify all the wrong deeds that we do. Yes, we industrialize our country by constructing high-rise buildings and market unhealthy, tasty foods.

We justify that we don't cut trees just because we want to, its because we need to. It's because we need to construct other multimillion Casino in this place and the trees are on our way.

Sad to admit but this is true. Just like in The Lorax, The Once-Ler only wanted to be successful. But he forgot that there are also other life forms around him.

The one I thought to be a kids movie taught me a very valuable lesson; don't be greedy. Don't let anyone dictate what you should do. What is wrong is wrong, no excuses.

I hope you find the movie as enlightening as I did.

 Happy Viewing!
